Improved vector editing with the Cut tool

Figma introduces a Cut tool that lets you slice vector shapes precisely

#
UI Design

On Sep 30, 2025, Figma rolled out an update focused on making vector editing more intuitive and powerful with its Cut tool.

With this new tool, designers can:

  • Select the Cut tool and click-drag across a shape to slice it cleanly.
  • Click on an anchor or path point to split a vector at that location, turning one object into separate pieces.

This marks part of Figma’s broader effort to rewrite and strengthen its vector editing capabilities—improvements that include better Boolean operations, multi-vector editing, shape builder features, and more expressive stroke tools.

These enhancements aim to bridge the gap between UI design and illustration workflows, allowing you to manipulate paths and objects with greater flexibility without leaving the Figma environment.
