Figma has upgraded its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server so AI agents can see—not just snapshots—but the actual code structure behind apps built with Figma Make.

Here’s what changes with this update:

  • Direct code access for AI: Instead of inferring visuals, AI agents can request the actual code context from Make files.
  • Remote connectivity: The MCP server now works with IDEs, browser-based agents, and remote setups—removing the need to rely on the desktop app.
  • Supported integrations: Launch partners include Anthropic, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code.
  • Design Snapshot & in-canvas AI edits (coming):
  • • A Design Snapshot tool will convert prototypes into editable Figma layers.
  • • A future feature will let you prompt edits directly within the design canvas.
  • Better mapping via Code Connect: You’ll be able to browse components in Figma and map them to code—bridging design, AI agents, and production logic.
