Microsoft has unveiled a significant redesign of its core 10 Office app icons, marking the first major update since 2018. The new icons feature a more curvy, colorful, and playful design, influenced by Microsoft's Fluent design principles and recent work on the Copilot icon.

The redesign emphasizes connection, fluidity, and accessibility, embodying a design system that promotes seamless collaboration and visual simplicity. Gradients now appear more vibrant and dynamic, improving legibility and user experience, especially at smaller sizes. Icons have also been simplified—for example, the Word icon now has three horizontal bars instead of four.

These updated icons will soon roll out across web, desktop, and mobile platforms for all Microsoft 365 users.
