ByteDance has officially launched Seedream 4.0, its latest AI image generation tool, positioning it as a direct competitor to Google's popular Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, also known as Nano Banana. According to ByteDance, Seedream 4.0 outperforms Nano Banana in internal evaluations, particularly in areas such as prompt adherence, alignment, and aesthetics. The tool is designed to cater to professional users, offering features like ultra-fast image rendering (under two seconds per 2K-resolution image) and support for up to six reference images to maintain consistent visual identity across multiple image generations. Unlike Nano Banana, which is optimized for casual, mobile-first creators, Seedream 4.0 targets professionals working at scale, including marketers, designers, and content creators.
